This course presents evidence-based Yoga methodologies and practices designed specifically for Exercise Physiologists and Sports
Science Professionals who want to learn how to use Yoga as a therapeutic modality to enhance client outcomes.
Each topic covered is examined through the lens of science to create practical therapeutic tools while maintaining the magic and mystery of this ancient wisdom.
This comprehensive course can be taken as a stand-alone course or combined with other courses by THE YOGA METHOD to progress towards attaining your 250hr Level 1 - Advanced Yoga Teacher Trainer (YTT) Qualification.

Intro to Yoga Therapy - ESSA Short Course
Module 1 -Yoga Foundations and The Science of Yoga
Module 1 offers a unique online learning experience, guiding you through the intersection of modern science and yoga's timeless wisdom.
We introduce you to THE YOGA METHOD’S mission, methodology, and class structure, laying the foundation for our face-to-face sessions.
You will also delve into the foundations of yoga principles, history, and philosophy and our breathing, meditation, and relaxation practices.
We also provide self-reflective journaling questions to enhance your learning journey.
Module 2 - Yoga Therapeutic Applications
Module 2 focuses on the practical application of yoga as a powerful therapeutic modality.
We examine the optimal protocols based on current research that validates the effectiveness of these techniques and learn how to integrate yoga postures (Asanas), breathwork (Pranayama), relaxation (Yoga Nidra), and meditation tools into client sessions.

Intro to Yoga Therapy - ESSA Short Course is a non-NRT course registered with Exercise & Sport Science Australia (ESSA) as a short course.
If you are registered with ESSA you will receive 15 CPD Points upon its competion. You will need to provide ESSA with completion evidence.

There are a number of VET accredited courses in yoga you can find on https://training.gov.au from Certificate IV through to Advanced Diplomas in Yoga, Yoga Therapy and Yoga Teaching. It is recommended to first complete a 250hr Teacher Training course.
Industry Specific
To further your study following this short course and become a yoga teacher, we recommend our 250hr Level 1 - Advanced Yoga Teacher Trainer (YTT). The content covered within this short course is content from our YTT course and some assessments can be recognised and result transfered.
Career Opportunities
This course is designed to expand the abilities and knowledge of its participants, it does not directly result in a career outcome rather it will compliment the skillset of all allied health professionals and be an interesting preview into yoga for anyone interested.
Course Requirements
Entry Requirements
There are no pre-requisite requirements for entry into this course. However, FIT College and The Yoga Method do not accept students under 14 years of age and all students are required to meet LLN requirements.
It is also recommended to have a basic knowledge of and ability to do Yoga. To receive ESSA CPD Points you must be registered with them.
Course Assessment
Every qualification, unit of competency or skill set completed at FIT College will require students to undergo a number of written and/or practical assessment tasks. The assessment tasks are designed to confirm that the student can meet all elements and performance criteria indicated in the curriculum. By completing each assessment task to the standard indicated, students are ready and eligible to perform those elements in the workplace.
